Children and Spirituality

The subject of children is fairly close to my heart, especially since becoming a grandmother and I therefore would like to share some of my thoughts.

I was recently made aware of a number of issues concerning children and energy work. Some were about healers purporting to be able to locate and address serious physical symptoms and another one was about a child using crystals in order to clear negativity in the world and offering private sessions to the public. I find this fairly alarming, mostly because it involves children but also because a number of energy therapy practitioners are (justifiably) becoming fodder for negative journalism. Children and Healing on Shows

I recently attended a show where there were quite a number of complementary therapies stands offering taster sessions to the public.  This is a wonderful way of promoting our work since it gives people a chance to try a therapy before committing to a full appointment.  All in all it was hugely enjoyable until I noticed that a very young child, that was obviously healthy and well, was receiving a form of energetic ‘healing’ on one of the stands.  I know that the child was healthy since it had passed our stand a while before and was full of beans, cheeky and running around.  It was unfortunately obvious that the child was not comfortable receiving the therapy and the whole thing came across like some form of abuse and an intrusion to the child’s personal space.  It was uncomfortable to watch, to the point that I had to keep myself from intervening, which was unfortunately not an option.  I would hasten to say that the therapist obviously meant well, but then they could not see the child’s expression and the parent was looking at another stand.
