Recently the Vibrational Healing Foundation was asked what crystal healing techniques one could use for young, pre-teenage children and we would like to give some of our views in this article for healers who may have questions. It is always important to stress that crystal healing is complementary to conventional medicine and that it is important that a child that is not well is diagnosed and treated by a medical practitioner. Equally, all healers must adhere to their Code of Conduct concerning the healing of minors.
On an energetic level, it is imperative to be ultra careful concerning channelling energy into a young child’s chakra system because this system is not fully formed prior to puberty. At times, in severe circumstances, it may be necessary, but then only briefly and without the use of crystals. Equally, the younger the child, the more sensitive this issue is.
Nowadays it has become the norm that toddlers must do ‘exams’ in order to be accepted in certain schools. If this is done in a playful manner this is fine. Should a child, however, not do well enough and be made aware of this, the ‘not good enough’ issue will be deeply woven into the fabric of the relevant chakra. In this case it would be the solar plexus, which would be in its first stage of development (around the age of 3 or so). It follows that later on the adult could have severe issues concerning low self-esteem or not ‘being good enough’ and these issues would be very difficult to address, because they would be part of the more profound energetic make up of that individual.
There was good reason when a couple of generations ago, children were only being allowed to go to school at the age of 6! Before that they were encouraged to find out about the world and themselves in better ways than sitting hours in front of a television or computer. A few hours of ‘play school’ every day were also the norm. It was unheard of for young children to commit suicide because they could not cope at school, nor were children given Prozac. It is very different today and healing for children may well become more of a requirement.
Concerning crystal healing techniques, as a general rule, it would be appropriate to let a young child choose a tumble stone and hold that stone whilst the healer channels energy into the auric field as a whole. Another way would be for a parent to hold the child and then for the healer to use a very simple method such as placing parent and child in a (simple) pattern of crystals and again, let the child choose a crystal to hold. Flower remedies are also excellent for children (and anyone else).
On a more profound level one should not forget that children do take on board the patterning of their parents and also other authority figures and that some of those patterns are there for good reason. This is another reason that in-depth chakra work is rarely appropriate. Often a young child is not well because it’s parents are having problems, in which case a gentle clearing and strengthening of the child’s energy field is in order and maybe one or both parents could also do with some healing or be advised to seek other help.
During the most recent generation, quite a number of children have been born who are exceptionally intuitive as well as sensitive. Many are born into families who are aware of ‘energy’ and should such a child come to you for healing, it is usually just a matter of giving it (and the parent) some practical advice concerning being more grounded and to help to strengthen the auric field. At times some advice concerning how to deal with heightened sensitivity or being very psychic may also be in order.
There are those who tell such children that they are extremely special, different from others and psychically gifted etc., which is not all that helpful and could do more harm than good. To glamorise the issue by calling them ‘Crystal’ children or other ‘New Age’ names may also not be of much value to these children and could well make them an outcast with their peers or a target for bullying. In our view, being highly intuitive and experiencing the worlds of energy will become more and more the norm and hopefully before too long will be accepted as fact rather than viewed as fiction.
This article represents the personal viewpoint of the VHF

This is an excellent article on healing with children. The only thing that I would find useful as a parent and healer is that children may not always need healing from a parents or societies point of view.
In todays world we expect perfection without any real sense of what that may be in relation to a growing child. A child must be allowed to develop in a loving and supportive environment.
It may all too often be a temptation to identify a ‘problem’ a child may have in relation to how it may behave and interact with the world. This has actually lead to a lot of abuse in the past and presently.
The bottom line may be if a child is not being how we perceive they should be as parents, teachers, society etc then as adults maybe it’s time to look at and address our own issues around this subject rather than putting it on our children/next generation.
